Science
At Barry Primary School, we aim to nurture an enjoyment and love of science for all of our children, through developing:
- An attitude of curiosity, interest and enquiry
- An understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science
- The skills to design and carry out investigations in order to solve problems
- A cooperative attitude to group activities and respect for the ideas of others
- An awareness of the importance of science in our everyday lives, so equipping them with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future.
As well as science being taught as part of our creative curriculum, with links to other subjects being made wherever possible, the children also engage in science through other enrichment activities throughout the year.

Science Programmes of Study
Science at Barry Primary School is taught as in integral part of each term’s topic in each year group. Cross curricular links are embedded whenever possible, but here you will find a breakdown of which science is covered in each term by each year group within those topics.
