Year 4

Recently in Year 4...

In maths we have been learning how to recognise equivelent fractions and fractions greater than 1. Please see below for our wow pages.

We have watched a short clip called Marshmallows which is all about a mythical creature called a Mallowdile and a boy-scout. We have created non-chronological reports on our own fictional creatures and are beginning to write action narrative from the boy’s perspective.

As part of our Science topic, the children had a workshop where they explored circuits and learnt about how it works.

We have been researching the Chinese culture in geography and history.

As part of our parent involvement, we will be inviting parents and carers in to help the children create Easter Baskets using clay.

Our Homework

Every week, Year 4 children should:

  • Practise their spellings
  • Read Daily
  • Practise their target cards

Children in Year 4 are expected to read their book and practise their spellings each night. Staff will check their spelling books and reading comments books throughout the week to ensure children are completing these tasks.

Children can also access TTRockstars at home, on a tablet or computer using their individual logins. TTRockstars is a fantastic resource which enables the children to answer multiplication and division questions in a game format. The children can work their way up the levels in the game to ultimately become a rock hero!
