Nursery
Barry Nursery offers places for 3-4 year olds. Children are entitled to have government funded 15 hours nursery sessions per week. Parents can also apply for 30 hours funding via www.childcarechoices.gov.uk. Extra sessions and a breakfast and afterschool club can be covered by our onsite provider KidsStop.
Barry Nursery is a place where all children can access a broad and balanced early years curriculum enabling them to grow, learn and achieve.

During Term 1 Nursery and Reception supported Macmillan and set up morning snack as a
'coffee morning' for the children by providing them with hot chocolate and cake. Thank you
for your generous donations - we got together and raised £100.00.
The nursery is normally staffed by a teacher, an early years practitioner and a learning support assistant.
Our Nursery has an outdoor area with a pond, a kitchen garden and a wooded area that we call ‘the forest’ as well as a huge sand pit and space to race, ride bikes and play games with friends.
We work closely with children and families to develop an ever changing individual curriculum.
We also work closely with reception, sharing the ‘big playground’ with them once a week, going on trips together and performing our sold out Christmas shows!
In our Nursery and Reception at Barry, we believe it’s important to teach children that sometimes they will be given the power to make choices and enable them to make decisions on their own and in groups.
In the early years, we teach children that their opinions are important and that each child’s thoughts and feelings should be listened to and valued.
The following British Values are incorporated and demonstrated through EYFS learning and play:
• Democracy
• The rule of law
• Individual liberty
• Mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
At our school, we are lucky to be part of a wide, varied community where not everyone is the same. Our setting is inclusive and respectful. We value and celebrate the many faiths, cultures and races represented within our classes.
